Message From Dean

Welcome to Duke Kunshan University! At DKU, you will find an undergraduate education that opens you up to a world of possibilities! We won’t prepare you simply for a job. We’ll prepare you for an evolving lifelong career in an ever-changing world. You will gain expertise in your major, but more importantly, you’ll develop transferable skills that will make you successful whatever your future holds. You’ll leave DKU with the power of communication – in two of the world’s most widely spoken languages – and the ability to think critically, reason analytically, behave ethically, and work with a diverse community of people from all over the world. Along the way, you will also develop the skills to further teach yourself any specific expertise you might need later in your career.

DKU is a vibrant intellectual community of scholars with different disciplinary foundations and cultural backgrounds who come together in interdisciplinary courses to share their unique perspectives toward common themes. You will learn as much from your peers as from your instructors. You won’t just sit in a classroom passively listening to a lecture. You will be an active participant in your own education, doing team projects, getting out into the surrounding area on Friday class field trips, attending talks by guest speakers who are experts in their disciplines, studying away at Duke, and doing research, internships and experiential learning activities. Your DKU undergraduate education will culminate in a signature work project that allows you to work closely with a faculty mentor to probe deeply into an area of specific interest to you, reflecting on your coursework, experiential learning, and capstone to produce an independent or small group academic or creative work that is uniquely your own. The possibilities for rewarding engagement both in and out of the classroom are endless!

DKU is a unique place for an extraordinary group of people. Read these pages to learn more!
