Bananafish books is one of China’s first stores dedicated to independently published art books. Bananafish Books stocks titles from some of the most famous independent publishers from around the world: Pogo Books, SSE project, Mono.Kultur, Lay Flat, Romka, Farewell Books, and Nieves Books.
LIT 104 The American Romance of Self-Making: Students printed Risograph commonplace book entries in preparation for the final commonplace book project. Printing in this form encouraged them to analyze media in relation to the commonplace book. At the gallery, students perused the gallery and surrounding area, took pictures, and talked about their own works and how the trip could help enrich them.
LIT 205 American Lyric Across Borders: Students printed Risograph poetry broadsides in conjunction with a discussion that week of print culture and media theory. Through this creative activity, they developed critical thinking skills about media and reception. Additionally, students perused the gallery and surrounding area, took pictures, and talked about their own works and how the trip could help enrich them.
