Kunshan Smart Factory

Smart Factory 蕴启工业智能制造实验室

Smart Factory Kunshan is Startup Factory’s new joint venture with Kunshan City’s Government established in 2017. The official opening of the 15,000 sqm facility took place in October 2018, with their Smart Factory Event Arena opening in the spring. The purpose of the demonstration and integration factory is to create an innovative environment for the Industrial Internet of Things and the newest phase of the Industrial Revolution (also known as Industry 4.0) from research through demonstrations and education. Smart Factory enables international and Chinese companies to integrate and demonstrate their technology in the Industry 4.0 field in a real-life production environment.

Field Trip Information

PHYS121 Integrated Science Physics: The field trip provided students an idea as to how mechanics in industrial production lines and innovation look like, and assisted them in identifying applications of knowledge learned in class. By viewing an actual state-of-the-art factory’s processes and production lines, students gained an understanding of how physics are integrated with other sciences in a multitude of realms, most ubiquitously in factories such as the one they visited.
