Shanghai Lu Xun Museum上海鲁迅纪念馆

Shanghai Lu Xun Museum is located to the right of the main entrance of Lu Xun Park, directly behind Hongkou Stadium. This fascinating museum is dedicated to the life and works of Lu Xun (1881-1936), a writer, translator, and essayist considered the founder of modern Chinese literature. Often writing in the vernacular, simplified Chinese of the common man of his day, Lu Xun became the recognized leader of the Chinese League of Left-Wing Writers in Shanghai during the tumultuous pre-war period of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Lu Xun’s most renowned masterpiece is The True Story of Ah Q. Lu Xun also spent time in Japan as a student, and was present in China during the convulsive pre-war period of his country’s history, thus affording him a comprehensive perspective on the travails China was to experience during his lifetime.
