Kunshan Yuefeng Island Organic Agricultural and Sideline Products Base Co., Ltd. (Yuefeng Island) established in June 2010 and located between Yangcheng and Kuilei Lakes, is a subsidiary of Kunshan Urban Construction Investment Development Group Co., Ltd. Since its establishment, Yuefeng Island has firmly implemented and promoted organic planting and educating the public to choose a healthy, responsible organic lifestyles. In 2012, Yuefengdao obtained the organic product certification from the Nanjing National Environmental Certification Center.
HIST 206 World History in Seven Meals: Students visited the farm and were able to view a cooking demonstration. They tasted local foods. as well, experiencing local culture through culinary means which gave insight to how history and stories can be connected to food.
RELIG 302 Modern Buddhism: Students were allowed to conduct participant-observation of a contemporary Buddhist practice community. This was combined with a knowledge of agriculture to gain a fuller understanding of how modern Buddhists connect themselves spiritually in a contemporary environment.
WOC 213 From Text to World: Editing and Publishing: One of the main activities we do in this course is to work together as a class to put together the next issue of Meridian: A Literary Atlas of DKU, an anthology of creative writing by DKU students. To prepare to do this the first thing we need to do is everybody needs to read submissions and debate which pieces should be included in the anthology. It’d be lovely to take a Friday, decamp to a nice place not too far away and spend the whole day together reading manuscripts and talking.
